It is January 22nd, 1879. The British invaders in Zululand have been disastrously defeated at nearby Isandhlwana. Warriors from the victorious Zulu impi are descending on your position at Rorke’s Drift.

Join the courageous stand of 150 British soldiers as you defend the Mission Station from the might of the thousands of Zulu in this historic battle based on true events. 

Assume the role of Private John Williams as dramatic events unfold overnight, and discover how he earned a Victoria Cross for his extraordinary exploits of bravery in defending the hospital and its patients. 

Can you hold your position with unwavering resolve, and repel the relentless onrush of fierce Zulu impi until the Relief Column arrives?

Notes:

  • While there is a quit button on the main menu and pause menu, it does not work on the HTML 5 version of the game
  • When you die the game does not restart, it is best to reload the browser to play again

  • Chapter 2
    • Look out for walls with a piece missing, these are Loop Holes and can be broken with a few hits of the bayonet so that you can fire through them.
         
  • Chapter 3
    • Look out for windows, they can be broken with the bayonet or a bullet and will allow you to fire through them.
    • Look out for cracked walls, these can be broken with a few hits of the bayonet so that you can access another room of the hospital.


Update 06/06/2024

  • Chapter 2
    Zulus had a habit of running far and wide, so added some invisible walls to keep the player and Zulus from wandering to the sandbags and getting lost.
  • It was possible to escape chapter 2 via a single grass tile in the north west. This has been fixed
